Rudolf Steiner (biophysicist)

Rudolf Steiner (born December 18, 1941 in Prague ) is a German biophysicist with a research focus on laser technology for medical applications.

After graduating in physics, Steiner received his doctorate from the Technical University of Munich in 1972 and then went to the Center national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in Montpellier , France as a NATO fellow . He was already working with lasers in his diploma thesis . From 1973 he dealt with laser applications in medicine at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , where he set up a laser laboratory for medical diagnostics. At the Institute for Clinical Physiology he got a position as an assistant professor. In 1986 he was appointed professor at Ulm University and took over the management of the newly founded Institute for Laser Technologies in Medicine and Measurement Technology (ILM). He retired on December 31, 2007. Since then he has been a scientific advisor to the ILM.
