Hans Rudolf Bitter , from 1880 from Bitter (born October 8, 1811 in Schwedt / Oder , † May 20, 1880 in Berlin ) was a Prussian tax officer and president of the royal Prussian maritime trade .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian tax officer in Schwedt (Oder) Ferdinand Bitter, who was appointed to Berlin as the Prussian tax advisor to Berlin soon after the birth of his next son, Karl Hermann Bitter (* 1813).

During his studies in Bonn, Bitter became a member of the Corps Borussia there .

From 1834 to 1845 Bitter worked for the government of the Poznan Province . In 1845 he was transferred to Merseburg as a member of the government , and from 1847–1848 to Cologne . In 1848 he was appointed to the Ministry of Finance as a Secret Finance Council with promotion in 1855 to the Secret Upper Finance Council and in 1861 to the Real Secret Upper Finance Council as well as Director of the Central Directorate for the Regulation of Property Taxes and finally appointed Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Finance in 1866 .

In 1869 he was appointed Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of the Interior. In 1871 he was appointed representative in the Federal Council. In 1872 he became a member of the Prussian mansion , and in 1873 he was finally president of the royal maritime trade. In 1874 he was promoted to the Real Privy Council with the address "Excellency" and on March 5, 1880 in Berlin - only two months before his death - with his descendants to the hereditary Prussian nobility .

Bitter married Anna Nauen on November 22, 1838 in Berlin (* June 12, 1819 in Berlin; † April 21, 1885 there), the daughter of the calico manufacturer Otto Nauen and Elisabeth (Betty) Michaelis. The sons of this marriage were the Prussian administrative court director Hans von Bitter (1840–1899), the Prussian crown syndic Rudolf von Bitter the Elder. J. and the Prussian Lieutenant General Maximilian von Bitter (1856–1927).

In January 1880 he suffered a stroke from which he did not recover. After eight days in sick bed due to a heart condition, Rudolf von Bitter the Elder died on May 20, 1880 at the age of 68 in Berlin. The burial took place in the Dorotheenstadt cemetery on Chausseestrasse . The grave has not been preserved.
