Rudolf von Miller
Rudolf Rupert von Miller (born November 5, 1899 in Munich ; † December 12, 1996 in Niederpöcking on Lake Starnberg ) was a German engineer and entrepreneur .
Life
Rudolf von Miller, son of Oskar von Miller and the painter Marie Miller born Seitz, turned to the put- graduate mechanical engineering electrical engineering studies at the Technical University of Munich to which he with the acquisition of the academic degree of a graduate engineer graduated. He then joined his father's engineering office Oskar von Miller GmbH in 1927 , which he ran together with his brother Walther von Miller until the 1970s after the death of his father in 1934 .
Rudolf von Miller also volunteered for more than 50 years in various committees in the Deutsches Museum in Munich, which his father founded in 1903, and was jointly responsible for the reconstruction and redesign of the museum after the Second World War , including installing the departments for nuclear energy and space travel . Rudolf von Miller was also secretary, later president of the German committee of the World Energy Conference. In 1962 he was appointed chairman of the non-profit association VDI-Ingenieurhilfe eV
In 1970 Miller was awarded an honorary doctorate from Ursinus College, located in Collegeville , Pennsylvania , the Bavarian Order of Merit and the German Museum's Golden Ring of Honor. Rudolf von Miller, who had been married to Emmy Rossmann since 1928 and with whom he had three children, died in 1996 at the age of 97 in Niederpöcking on Lake Starnberg.
