Ruggiero Rizzitelli (born September 2, 1967 in Margherita di Savoia , Barletta-Andria-Trani Province ) is a former Italian football player .
Career
societies
Ruggiero Rizzitelli had been active in the second team of AC Cesena during his youth until he received a contract with the professionals in July 1984; there he played for four years and moved to AS Roma in 1988 . For the Romans, for whom he played most often, Rizzitelli was active for six years. There followed two seasons at Torino , for which he played most effectively, but could not prevent relegation to Serie B. For the 1996/97 season he moved from Serie B as the first Italian ever to join the German Bundesliga for Bayern Munich . He made his debut in the competition on August 16, 1996 (1st matchday), in which he also scored his first goal in the 35th minute to equalize the 2-1 victory at FC St. Pauli . His last appearance in the Bundesliga was on May 9, 1998 (34th matchday) in the home game against Borussia Dortmund , which they won 4-0. After 45 league (12 goals), 5 DFB Cup (1 goal), 6 European Cup games and a league cup game for Munich, his two-year season abroad ended. Rizzitelli returned to his homeland, this time to FC Piacenza , and ended his footballing career after a season with AC Cesena.
National team
From 1988 to 1991 Rizzitelli wore the jersey of the Squadra Azzurra eleven times , for which he made his debut on February 20 in Bari in the 4-1 victory over the USSR and for which he was twice successful. Rizzitelli took part in two tournaments: the 1988 European Championship in the Federal Republic of Germany , where Italy was eliminated in the semi-finals against the USSR with 0-2 goals on June 22nd , and from September 14th to October 1st at the 1988 Olympic football tournament in Seoul , in which he was used for the first time in the last group game and scored the opening goal to make it 1-0 in the 59th minute in a 2-0 victory over the Iraqi Olympic team. He was also used in the quarter and semi-finals and in the third-place match. In addition, Rizzitelli had previously completed 16 international matches for Italy's U21 team from 1987 to 1989 , scoring four goals.
