Rui Manuel Hanjam

Rui Manuel Hanjam (born August 15, 1969 in Ermera , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD) .

Life

Hanjam went to school in Dili . In 1996 he received a Bachelor's degree from the Economic Science of Development Study from Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and in 2002 a Master of Philosophy in Public Administration from the University of Bergen in Norway . The title of the master's thesis was "Policy Transfer within the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor: An Ideal of Local Democratic Institution (The Case of Community Empowerment Project)".

From 1996 to 1999 Hanjam worked as a civil servant ( Pegawai Negeri Sipil ) for the Indonesian Economic Office with responsibility for environmental reports, assessments and controls for basic services. From June to September 1999 he became a local employee of the UNAMET mission , where he worked as an interpreter, radio journalist and in charge of the logistics for the distribution of written information material. From October 1999 to August 2000, Hanjam worked for the United Nations Interim Administration for East Timor (UNTAET) and works as a journalist and editor for Radio UNTAET .

From August 2002 to March 30, 2007, Hanjam worked for the World Bank as a social development worker with a focus on education, small business / private sector development, community power projects, labor and social protection and youth. From June 4 to July 5, 2007, Hanjam was Field Officer for the Carter Center with responsibility for preparing observers for the 2007 general election in East Timor . From July 19 to 31, 2007, he was national consultant for the Enhancing Rural Women Leadership and Capacity Building (PERWL) program of UNIFEM .

Since August 8, 2007, Hanjam was Deputy Minister in the Gusmão cabinet . Initially with the Department of Economy and Development under Minister João Mendes Gonçalves , from March 18, 2009 for the Department of Finance under Minister Emília Pires . When the new government took office on August 8, 2012, Hanjam resigned from his office.

Others

Hanjam is married. He speaks Tetum as his mother tongue and also Mambai , Bahasa Indonesia , English and relatively good Portuguese .
