Diersburg ruins

The ruin Diersburg , also called Tiersperg , is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 280  m above sea level. NN high rocky hill about 1900 meters southeast of the district Diersburg of the municipality of Hohberg in the Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was built by the Lords of Diersburg at the end of the 12th century and was mentioned in 1197 as "Stein zu Tiersperc" by Walter von Tiersperc and in 1259 as "Diersberg". During the 13th century the castle was expanded and was Ganerbeburg in the 14th century until it was finally destroyed by the French in the Thirty Years' War and in 1668. In 1763 the castle was demolished for stone mining. From 1980 to 1983 the ruins were restored.

The castle was later owned by the Margraves of Baden and has been owned by Barons Roeder von Diersburg since 1455 .

description

The former castle complex was a small, strongly fortified complex with a special core castle , which had two palas buildings but had no keep . The fabric of the building shows partially humpback cuboids . The shield wall was three meters thick and the curtain wall two meters. The facility is privately owned.
