Rulle is a village and district in the east of the municipality Wallenhorst in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony . The village is about three kilometers east of the community center and six kilometers north of the center of the city of Osnabrück . With 4648 inhabitants (November 22, 2017), Rulle is the smallest district of the municipality.

The oldest evidence of human settlement are the Helmich stones in the east , a large stone grave of the megalithic culture . During excavations, shards of funnel beakers and a flat ax made of flint were found. The Helmich stones are part of the street of the megalithic culture . Wittekindsburg is located southeast of Rulle . It was an early medieval fortification from the time of the Saxon Wars . Already around 1100 there was an own church on the Meierhof of the Tecklenburger ministerial Konrad von Lingen, which he sold to the order of the Cistercians in 1233 , which was consecrated to Ulrich von Augsburg . The Cistercian abbey, the Rulle monastery , existed from 1246 to 1803. Attractions

Knollmeyer's mill

Sights include the Helmich stones and the ruins of the Wittekindsburg, the parish church of St. Johannes, which is visited by around 50,000 believers every year. Volunteer firefighter

The Rulle rifle club has existed since 1899. After moving in 2011, the Ruller rifle people meet in the newly established rifle house in Ostenort. A modern laser shooting range is available there.

The wind orchestra from Rulle was founded in 1921 and rehearses weekly in its club hall. Currently 40 women and men between the ages of 14–73 play flute clarinets, saxophones, high brass, deep brass or percussion.

Boy Scout Rulle: Tribe Maximilian Kolbe

The scout tribe Maximilian Kolbe was founded in 1977 and is one of the largest scout tribe in the Osnabrück diocese. The media journalist Stefan Niggemeier grew up in Rulle.

With the bus line 541, which runs daily and usually runs every 30 minutes, Rulle is connected to the local public transport to Osnabrück.
