Rush Rush is a pop - ballad , consisting on 2 May 1991 Paula Abdul's second studio album Spellbound was released. The song was produced by Peter Lord wrote and he and V. Jeffrey Smith (both members of The Family Stand) produced . In the US , the single became the longest number one hit , after Madonna's Like a Virgin from 1984.

Rush Rush was Abdul's first ballad that she released as a single. Previously, she had six up-tempo - Pop - / Dance -Singles from her debut album Forever Your Girl released.

Music video

The music video is based on the James Dean film because they don't know what they're doing . In addition to Paula Abdul, Keanu Reeves plays the male lead. Stephan Würnitzer was the director of the video clip .

Commercial win

Rush Rush debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 11, 1991 at # 36 and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 five weeks later on June 15, 1991 , where it remained at the top for five consecutive weeks. This makes Rush Rush the longest and most successful number one hit at 5 weeks after Madonna's Like a Virgin , which spent 6 weeks at number 1 in the winter of 1984–1985 . After Like a Virgin , Rush became the first number one hit to hit Rush , spending more than four weeks at the top. Rush Rush reached number 6 in the British single charts . The top 10 was also reached in Australia (number 2), the Netherlands (number 6), Sweden (number 7), New Zealand (number 7), and Norway (number 9) . It reached 12th place in Wallonia, Belgium and 24th place in France.
