Career

Ruslan Dibirgadschijew is of Avar origin and started his wrestling career for Russia, but moved to Azerbaijan in 2009 and has been starting for this country since then. The 1.73 meter tall athlete competes for Atasport Baku . He was or is mainly trained by Firdowsi Umudow. He has been wrestling since 2002 and exclusively in free style.

Since the competition in Azerbaijan is very high in his style and weight class, he only achieved his international breakthrough in 2013 when he won the lightweight Spanish Grand Prix in front of Frank Chamizo Marquez from Italy and Yakup Gör from Turkey. In January 2014 he won the Dan Kolow & Nikola Petrow Memorial in Sofia in the new weight class up to 70 kg, ahead of Miroslaw Kirow from Bulgaria, the Chinese Ling Haiwei and Yakup Gör. In April 2014, he was then used in this weight class at the European Championships in Vantaa / Finland. It was his first ever appearance at an international championship. He was in very good shape there and won the European Championship with victories over Anton Afanasjew, Belarus, Zsombor Gulyas, Hungary, Yakup Gör and Grigor Grigorjan , Armenia. In September 2014 he was used in the same weight class at the World Championships in Tashkent. He won there in his first fight against Evgeni Nedealco from Moldova, but lost his next fight against Selimchan Jusupow from Tajikistan. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 15th place.

In 2015 Ruslan Dibirgadschijew started again at the 1st European Games in the weight class up to 70 kg. He lost there in the 1st round against Magomedmurad Gadschijew from Poland. He was then able to continue in the consolation round because it reached the final and secured a bronze medal with victories over Miroslaw Kirow from Bulgaria, Zsombor Gulyas from Hungary and Dawit Tlachadze from Georgia. At this year's World Cup in Las Vegas, however, he fared similarly to the 2014 World Cup. In Las Vegas he first won against Dejan Mitrow from Macedonia, then lost to Beksod Abdurachmanow from Uzbekistan, was eliminated and only came in 13th place . In 2017 he won another bronze medal at the European Championships in Novi Sad . There he was defeated by the later European champion Frank Chamizo Marquez, he received the bronze medal after his victory over the Romanian Adrian Moise . In 2018 he competed again in a tournament in Ukraine in the weight class up to 74 kilograms.
