Ruslan Medzhitov

Ruslan M. Medzhitov (born March 12, 1966 in Tashkent , Soviet Union , now Uzbekistan ) is an Uzbek immunologist and professor of immunobiology at Yale University in New Haven , Connecticut .

Life

Medzhitov graduated from the State University in Tashkent a bachelor and in 1993 at the State University in Moscow a Ph.D. in biochemistry . From 1994 to 1999 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Charles Janeway at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven , Connecticut , where he subsequently became an assistant professor and in 2003 a full professor. Medzhitov is also doing research for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute .

Act

In 1997, Medzhitov identified a human homologue of the Drosophila toll, the TLR-4 . Medzhitov was subsequently significantly to the elucidation of the innate immunity (innate immunity) and that mechanisms by which this system with the acquired immune system (adaptive immunosystem) cooperates and T- and B-cells , information on specific antigens mediated.
