Ulf Ottosson (born July 2, 1968 ) is a Swedish former football player . The striker played in Sweden, Portugal, England, Italy and Switzerland. With 205 goals he is the best goalscorer in the history of the Degerfors IF club , which earned him the nickname "Mål-Otto" ( Tor-Otto ).

Career

Career start at Degerfors IF

Ottosson made his debut in 1987 for Degerfors IF in the second division Division 1 , but rose with the team at the end of the season in the third division. As a result, he became a regular goal scorer and returned to the second division with the club in late 1990. As fourth in the spring championship in 1991, he qualified with him for the autumn series, in which the relay victory succeeded. In the following relegation games Degerfors IF prevailed after a 1: 3 away defeat with a 2-0 home win due to the away goals rule against Djurgårdens IF - Ottosson was successful in both games. He had made a name for himself as a goalscorer even outside of the country's borders and then moved to the National League B on loan to the Swiss club FC Locarno .

In early 1993 Ottosson returned to Sweden to Degerfors IF and joined the team in the Allsvenskan . Behind Milenko Vukcević , he was the second-best club-internal goalscorer in the 1993 season with seven goals this season and achieved relegation with the team around Ivan Djurić , Henrik Berger , Daniel Tjernström and Sebastian Henriksson after successes over IFK Hässleholm in the relegation games. In addition, they moved into the final of the national cup . In Gothenburg Landskrona BoIS was defeated with a 3-0 final. In the summer, Lars Zetterlund broke his leg in a tough derby against Örebro SK , so that in the 1993/94 European Cup Winners' Cup he only sat in the stands in the first round against AC Parma , in which the club failed after two defeats . In the following years he helped the club to establish itself in the midfield of the Allsvenskan, where he had to fight in particular with Vuksević and the 1994 committed Andreas Andersson for a place in the attack line.

Wandering years

After Ottosson had shone as a nine-time goalscorer in the 1995 season , the southern European club GD Chaves brought him into their ranks at the end of the season. Shortly after the beginning of the 1996/97 season, however, he left the Portuguese first division team and returned to Sweden. The new club was IFK Norrköping , where he played alongside Robert Steiner , Magnus Gustafsson , Klebér Saarenpää and Sulo Vaattovaara in seven league games until the end of the season.

In January 1997, Ottosson changed clubs again. The English club Norwich City secured his services on loan. In his debut for the reserve team on January 15, he scored a brace, was three days later in the squad of the second-rate First Division competing team and made his debut as a substitute for John Polston shortly before the end against Grimsby Town . By the summer he played a total of eight league games for the "Canaries" and scored one goal. However, he could not convince coach Mike Walker and received no contract offer in the spring.

Ottosson returned to his home country again and joined the Swedish first division team Panos Ljungskile in April before the start of the Allsvenskan season in 1997 . In the summer he changed clubs again and went to his hometown club Degerfors IF. At the end of the season, the two clubs occupied the two relegation ranks. In the second division he ran for DIF until the end of the 1999 season. Due to the introduction of the Superettan as a single-track second division, there were six relegated teams in the northern season, including Degerfors IF. Ottosson therefore left the club for Italy. He was hired in November 1999 at Viterbese Calcio in the third-class C1 series , but only stayed until the end of the year.

Return to Sweden and start of the coaching career

In early 2000, Ottosson returned to Sweden and subsequently ran for Degerfors IF in third-class Division 1. He regularly reached places in the top third of the table with the team. At the beginning of 2003 he won the title of Swedish indoor champion with the team, to which he contributed two goals. In the subsequent third division season it was enough for the runner-up, but season winner IK Brage had eight points ahead of the season. In the 2004 season, the club fought with IFK Ölme until the last day of the season for the relay victory, which was achieved due to the better goal difference compared to the same point competitor. In the subsequent promotion round, the team prevailed against Umeå FC and rose to the Superettan .

Ottosson, however, left Degerfors IF and joined the fifth division club Gullspångs IF as a player- coach . With the team he missed relegation and moved on to Strömtorps IK within the league . In the 2006 season he rose as a player in the fourth division and took over as coach in the following season. After the success failed to materialize, the club separated from him in the fall. After a break of several years from football, he took over the coaching position at the seventh division club Ängebäck BK at the end of 2010 .
