Before the first division season in 1981 , his uncle Rolf Zetterlund had taken over the coaching position at AIK in the Allsvenskan . If he had previously observed his nephew's development, he brought him to the Stockholm club. There he first played in the youth team and at the same time gave up playing ice hockey. He had made his competitive debut for the club's first team in August 1982 on the occasion of a cup match against IS Halmia , he made his debut in September of that year in the 0-0 draw Örgryte IS as a substitute for Jan Eriksson in the Allsvenskan. In the next four years he played 101 league games in a row, only in the 0-3 away defeat at Gefle IF in May 1983 he was not in the starting eleven.

At the side of Göran Göransson , Jyrki Nieminen , Bernt Ljung , Ove Rübsamen and Björn Kindlund , Zetterlund led the team back to the top of the league. At the end of the 1983 league leader, she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the championship play-offs against eventual champions IFK Göteborg. Two years later, they missed making it back to the finals, but the season was crowned with the first title win since winning the Cup in 1976: the team won the cup final on penalties against Östers IF at home in Råsunda Stadium, and Zetterlund converted his penalty. In the 1986 season he was with the team again before winning the title. As third in the table qualified for the championship finals, he reached the final against Malmö FF . A 1-0 home win was achieved in the first leg after a penalty converted by Mats Olausson . The second leg was dominated by the competitor, in which Lasse Larsson shone as a triple and Mats Magnusson as a two-time goalscorer, with a 5-2 win. Under coach Gunder Bengtsson Zetterlund moved with the team on the side of Thomas Wernerson , Mats-Ola Carlsson , Michael Andersson , Stefan Pettersson and Stig Fredriksson after wins over Inter Milan and FC Swarovski Tirol in the final of the UEFA Cup in 1986/87 , a . In the finals against the Scottish representative Dundee United , he was a substitute shortly before the end of the game and thus participated in the second European Cup victory in the club's history. After Bengtsson left the club, his successor Kjell Pettersson led the club to the championship title after a third place in the table at the end of the season after successes over IFK Norrköping and last year's champions Malmö FF. After winning the European Cup and winning the championship, several top performers such as Glenn Hysén , Peter Larsson , Jari Rantanen or Tord Holmgren left the club, the team slipped in the table. After the end of the 1989 season , in which the club had clearly missed the championship finals as seventh in the table, the former youth coach Roger Gustafsson took over the coaching post. In the course of the generation change, Zetterlund's contract was not extended.
