Magnus "Skölda" Sköldmark (born September 22, 1968 in Långsele ) is a Swedish former football player . The defensive player, who played in Sweden, China and Scotland, worked as a football functional following his active career .

Career

Sköldmark started playing football at Ransta IK . At the beginning of 1989 he moved to Örebro SK in Allsvenskan , where he moved into the championship finals as fourth in the table with the promoted team trained by Rolf Zetterlund alongside Magnus Erlingmark , Pär Millqvist , Sven Dahlkvist and Christer Fursth . There the team failed in the semi-finals at the eventual champions IFK Norrköping. Sköldmark was one of the main players on the defensive right from the start and was also a regular in the following years. In the following two seasons ÖSK was one of the teams placed in front in the final rankings, before the club managed to stay in the league in the 1992 season only in the relegation round.

Two years later, Sköldmark was one of the top teams again with Örebro SK, which had meanwhile strengthened itself with top performers such as the attackers Mattias Jonson and Mirosław Kubisztal as well as the young players Magnus Powell and Mattias Jonson, and became Swedish runner-up two points behind series champions IFK Göteborg . In the following seasons, the club continued to succeed in the top third of the league, but Sköldmark increasingly moved into the second tier.

In early 1997 Sköldmark left Sweden and joined the Chinese club Dalian Wanda . He returned to Europe in the summer when Scottish club Dundee United signed him. There the coach Tommy McLean formed a kind of Scandinavian block with him and the Swedes Mikael Andersson , Göran Marklund , Kjell Olofsson , the Dane Thomas Tengstedt , the Norwegian Erik Pedersen and the Icelandic Sigurður Jónsson in the third place in the table last year. The season was less successful for the club than the previous season, however, in contrast to some of his northern European colleagues, Sköldmark was able to establish himself in the defense as a regular player and took seventh place in the table with the team. The following year he ran for the club in the Scottish Premier League, which was introduced in the summer of 1998 based on the English model . There he played in the first year against relegation, while the team reached the cup semi-finals, which were ultimately lost to Celtic Glasgow .

In the summer of 2000 Sköldmark returned to Sweden, where he was staying with the Gothenburg first division club GAIS . Despite a goal in 13 games this season, he rose from the Allsvenskan at the end of the season. However, the relegated did not get by in the second class Superettan and was passed through to the third class. Sköldmark remained loyal to the club, but ended his active career during the 2003 season.

Sköldmark switched to the management of GAIS, which at the end of 2003 rose again to the second class. Under coach Roland Nilsson , the team reached the relegation place to Allsvenskan in the second division season in 2005 and returned to Allsvenskan after a 2-1 home win and a 0-0 draw in the second leg against Landskrona BoIS . In the following years, the club held in the top division, but Sköldmark was replaced by Sebastian Arby during the 2008 season in September.

In April 2010 Sköldmark's first professional station, Örebro SK, engaged the former player for a project to build a network and a new system for buying and selling players that lasted until the end of July of that year. In September he returned to the management of the club.
