Martijn Oosterwijk (born June 9, 1990 in Groningen ) is a Dutch ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Visby-Roma HK , in the third-rate Swedish hockey competition , since 2017 .

Career

Club

Martijn Oosterwijk began his career as an ice hockey player with the GIJS Bears Groningen in the second-class first division . With the team from his hometown, which has since been renamed Groningen Grizzlies , he was promoted to the honor division in 2007 . After a year in this Dutch elite class, in which he could only take last place with the Grizzlies, he moved to North America in 2008, where he was active with the junior teams Tampa Bay Junior Bolts and Powassan Eagles. In 2011 he returned to the Netherlands and signed a contract with Friesland Flyers in Heerenveen , with whom he finished third in the main round in 2013 . In 2014 he was awarded the Gobel-De Bruyn-Trofee as the best goalkeeper in the honor division . In 2015 he moved to the Dutch club Tilburg Trappers , who has been playing in the German Oberliga Nord since that season . With the team from the province of North Brabant , he became German Oberliga champions in 2016 and 2017. After the second league title he moved to Sweden, where he plays in the hockey team at Visby-Roma HK .

National team

Oosterwijk already took part in the U18 World Cup in Division I in 2008 and the U20 World Cup in 2009 , when he had the second-best catch quota of the tournament after British Euan King , and in 2010 , when he was second-best again after Arturas Kuzmicius from Lithuania Catch quota reached, participated in Division II.

He was part of the men's national team for the first time at the 2012 World Cup , but was not used in the Division I tournament. His first appearances in the Oranjeteam came in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi 2014, which took place in Budapest in November 2012 (first qualifying round) and in February 2013 in Bietigheim-Bissingen (second qualifying round). After performing well there, he was also nominated for the 2013 World Cup . There he was voted the best goalkeeper in Group B of Division I. Also in 2014 and 2015 he played for the Netherlands in Division I. At the 2018 World Cup , he played in Division II, and was promoted to Division I, to which he contributed with the second lowest goal against his compatriot Ian Meierdres . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
