The Superettan 2005 was the sixth season of the second highest Swedish football league under this name and the total of 77th season since the official introduction of such in 1928. The season began on April 16 and ended on October 22, 2005.
The former national champions AIK and Östers IF managed to return directly to the Allsvenskan as first and second in the table . The table third GAIS played in two relegation games against Landskrona BoIS , the table twelfth of the Allsvenskan season in 2005 , and rose after a 2-1 home win and a 0-0 draw in the second leg also in the first division. At the bottom of the table, Bodens BK , Västerås SK and Västra Frölunda IF occupied the relegation places and were relegated to Division 2 , which was then third .
