Emil von Behring Prize
The Emil von Behring Prize of the Philipps University of Marburg , named after Emil von Behring , Nobel Prize in Medicine , is one of the most important German science prizes . It has been awarded about every two years since 1942. The Emil von Behring Prize consists of a medal with the portrait of the namesake and is endowed with 25,000 euros. According to the statutes, the prize is awarded to scientists who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of medicine, veterinary medicine and the natural sciences. In memory of Emil von Behring, scientists from the fields of immunobiology and disease control are to be favored.
The German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology (DGTI) has been giving an Emil von Behring lecture since 1990 .
