The Russell Bay is a tendency unvereiste bay before Bakutis Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It stretches along the north side of Siple Island over the Getz Ice Shelf and Carney Island and extends from Pranke Island to Cape Gates .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1967 Admiral James S. Russell (1903-1996), Vice Chief of Naval Operations in Follow-up to the International Geophysical Year (1957–1958).
