Russian national rugby league team

The Russian national rugby league team , also known by its nickname The Bears , represents Russia internationally in the sport of rugby league . In 2000 the team took part in the Rugby League World Cup.

history

The Bears were founded in 1991 and competed in their first international match (6:26 against France ) under the flag of the Soviet Union . In 2000 they achieved their first and so far only qualification for a World Cup tournament , but after three major defeats against Australia , England and Fiji they were eliminated without a chance. In 2008, an 80-0 win over Lebanon was the highest win in Russian international history.
