Enith Brigitha married. Salle (born April 15, 1955 in Willemstad / Curaçao ) is a former Dutch swimmer who started for Het Y in Amsterdam .

The 1.74 m tall and 67 kg heavy athlete was able to win several medals at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships in the 1970s .

Olympic games

Enith Brigitha took part in two Olympic Games. On her debut she went without a medal, but made it to the finals in all five starts. Four years later she won two bronze medals in individual disciplines.

World championships

Enith Brigitha's big opponent was Kornelia Ender, who “only” gave her the silver medal twice.

    • 100 m freestyle: bronze in 58.87 seconds behind Kornelia Ender (gold in 57.54 seconds) and Shirley Babashoff (silver in 58.87 seconds)
    • 200 m back: silver in 2: 22.15 min. Behind the American Melissa Belote (gold in 2: 20.52 min.) And in front of the Hungarian Andrea Gyarmati (bronze in 2: 22.48 min.)
  • 1975 in Cali
    • 100 m freestyle: bronze in 58.20 seconds behind Kornelia Ender (gold in 56.50 seconds) and Shirley Babashoff (silver in 57.81 seconds)
    • 200 m freestyle: bronze in 2: 03.92 min. Behind Shirley Babashoff (gold in 2: 02.50 min.) And Kornelia Ender (silver in 2: 02.69 min.)
    • 4 × 100 m individual medley: bronze in 4: 21.45 minutes behind the GDR (gold in 4: 14.74 minutes) and the USA (silver in 4: 20.47 minutes) Team: Paula van Eyck , Wijda Mazereeuw, José Damen and Enith Brigitha
  • In 1978 in Berlin she was also at the start, but did not make it into the medal ranks.

Even at European championships, Enith Brigitha was only subject to swimmers from the GDR.

    • 200 m freestyle: silver in 2: 03.73 minutes behind Kornelia Ender (gold in 2: 03.22 minutes) and in front of Andrea Eife (bronze in 2: 05.04 minutes)

In 1973 and 1974 Enith Brigitha was voted Dutch Sportswoman of the Year. In 1990 she went back to Curaçao, where she and her husband opened a swimming school.
