Ryō Nagamatsu

Ryō Nagamatsu ( Japanese 永 松 亮 , Nagamatsu Ryō ; born October 25, 1982 ) is a Japanese composer of video game music . He currently works for the Japanese video game manufacturer Nintendo .

Ryō Nagamatsu was born in 1982 and was interested in video game music as a child. He originally wanted to be a composer for film music.

Nagamatsu was employed by the Japanese video game company Nintendo in 2006 immediately after completing his studies . He was assigned to the Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development department; he first composed pieces for the 2006 published Wii Play . In the next few years he was (partly) responsible for the soundtracks of very successful games such as Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports Resort . In 2009 he composed the pieces for New Super Mario Bros. Wii with Shiho Fujii ; then he worked with Kōji Kondō and Mahito Yokota on the soundtrack for Super Mario Galaxy 2 , for which Nagamatsu also wrote orchestral pieces. Next, Nagamatsu made the Nintendo Land soundtrack . He then made his debut as the sole composer of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in 2013 as a composer for the The Legend of Zelda series.
