Ryan Stone (born March 20, 1985 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Ryan Stone began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings , for which he was active from 2001 to 2005 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . During this period, the attacker was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the second round as a total of 32nd player by the Pittsburgh Penguins .
After he was active in his first two years in the Pittsburgh franchise exclusively for their farm team Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League , he made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2007/08 season . He gave a template in six games. In the same season, the left shooter reached the final of the Calder Cup with the AHL farm team , in which he and his team lost 4-2 to the Chicago Wolves in the best-of-seven series. The 2008/09 season began Stone both at Pittsburgh in the NHL and Wilkes-Barre / Scranton in the AHL, before he was on January 17, 2009 together with Dany Sabourin and a four-round suffrage in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Mathieu Garon was given to the Edmonton Oilers . Until the end of the season, however, he was only on the ice for their AHL farm team Springfield Falcons . In July 2010 he moved to the Calgary Flames , where he played exclusively for their farm team Abbotsford Heat in the AHL.
Therefore, he moved to TPS Turku in the Finnish SM-liiga in summer 2011 . Between December 2011 and April 2012 Stone was under contract with the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League .
