Ryan Watson (born June 12, 1981 in Lethbridge , Alberta ) is a retired Italian - Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

Watson was initially active from 1998 to 2000 for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the top junior division Western Hockey League , where he played two moderate seasons. The left-hand shooting Italian-Canadian in the jersey of the Drayton Valley Thunder and South Surrey Eagles was significantly more successful and played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and British Columbia Hockey League . There he occupied a top spot in the scorer list within the team in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons. He then gained his first experience with the Oklahoma City Blazers in the Central Hockey League , for which Watson played regularly until 2004. After a year-long engagement in the ECHL in the dress of the Victoria Salmon Kings , the Italian-Canadian returned to the Central Hockey League and subsequently ran for the Memphis RiverKings on the ice. After a short stopover in the British Elite Ice Hockey League - Watson completed nine games for Manchester Phoenix - he returned to the Central Hockey League again.

For the 2008/09 season , the winger moved to Italy and signed a contract with SG Cortina . In his first season he was together with Jordan Krestanovich the most successful scorer of the team with 53 scorer points. Another season followed in Cortina d'Ampezzo before Watson signed with league competitor Ritten Sport . The striker spent the 2011/12 season at HC Pustertal , with whom he reached the playoff finals and was defeated by HC Bozen .

International

For Italy Watson took part in the World Cup of Division I in 2011 , in which he achieved promotion to the top division with the team. Watson was there in four games on the ice and scored one assist. He made a total of ten international matches for Italy, in which he posted one goal and two assists.
