Ryang Chun-hwa (born June 12, 1991 in Pyongyang ) is a North Korean weightlifter . She won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight at the 2012 Olympic Games .

Career

Ryang Chun-hwa began lifting weights as a teenager in Pyongyang. It is only 1.47 meters tall and starts in the lightest weight class in women's weightlifting, the weight class up to 48 kg body weight. She is a student.

She made her first start at an international championship at the 2010 World Championship in Antalya. She reached there in a duel 175 kg (75-100), which she came in 8th place. In August 2011, she took second place at the Universiade in Shenzen / China with 186 kg (80-106) behind Xiao Hongyu, China, who came to 188 kg (80-108).

In July 2012 she competed in the Olympic Games in London. She increased there in a duel to 192 kg (80-112) and won the bronze medal behind Wang Mingjuan , China, 205 kg (91-114) and Hiromi Miyake , Japan, 197 kg (87-110).

In June 2013 Ryang Chun-hwa became Asian champion in Astana. Their performance in a duel was 190 kg (80–110). She relegated Agustiani Sri Wahyuni ​​from Indonesia, who weighed 176 kg (76-100) to 2nd place. At the 2013 World Championships in Wrocław, Ryang Chun-hwa didn't quite match her performance from Astana. With 186 kg (81-105) in a duel, however, she reached a safe 2nd place and became vice world champion. The winner of this competition, the Chinese Tan Yayun , who came to 199 kg (84-115), could not endanger her. She won a silver medal with her individual achievements.
