Ryūji Imada ( Japanese 今 田 竜 二 , Imada Ryūji ; born October 19, 1976 in Mihara , Hiroshima Prefecture ) is a Japanese professional golfer of the PGA TOUR who lives in the USA .

At the age of 14, Imada moved to Tampa , Florida . He had a strong amateur career with some valuable tournament wins and a place in the finals of the US Amateur Public Links Championships. Imada attended the University of Georgia and then became a professional golfer in 1999. By 2004 he played the Nationwide Tour , achieved two wins, and qualified with a third place in the 2004 annual ranking for the PGA TOUR . In his first season in the major tournament series, he managed a fifth place and Imada earned enough prize money to keep the eligibility for 2006.

At the US Open 2006, Imada was the best in the field in the final rounds with 69 and 71 strokes and finally reached the impressive 12th place - just four strokes behind. He is thus qualified for the next US Open in advance.

After his first victory on the PGA Tour in May 2008 at the AT&T Classic , Imada made it into the top 50 of the golf world rankings , which guarantees him the right to participate in majors and the high-value events of the World Golf Championships tournament series.
