history

There are four villages called Rzepiennik on the river of the same name, about 15 kilometers long, from northwest to southeast: Rzepiennik Marciszewski , Rzepiennik Strzyżewski , Rzepiennik Biskupi and Rzepiennik Suchy . Rzepiennik Biskupi is the oldest place and was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. The name Rzepiennik is derived from the word rzepa ( turnip ), the adjective Biskupi means episcopal . A Roman Catholic parish was mentioned in 1386.

During the first partition of Poland , Rzepiennik Biskupi came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rzepiennik Biskupi came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Rzepiennik Biskupi was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
