history

Today's Secular Institute was founded in 1939 by the Catholic clergyman Henri Roy (1898-1965), OMI in Manchester , New Hampshire ( USA ), as an Apostolic Family . After the Second World War , Father Roy worked in Québec and dedicated himself to young men who had returned from the war within the Young Christian Workers organization . The Pope Pius XII. in 1947 published the Apostolic Constitution Provida mater ecclesia on the reorganization of the religious system , opened up new perspectives for it. With the support of Québec Archbishop Maurice Cardinal Roy, he converted the Apostolic Family into a secular institute and in 1959 received the archbishop's permission for the Secular Institute of St. Pius X, as it was now called. The motto , as it is in the coat of arms , is “Instaurare omnia in Christo” (German: Renew everything in Christ) and refers to Paul's letter to Ephesians 4:24 EU .

Apostolic duties

The spiritual identity is essentially based on five pillars, including: the encounter with Jesus Christ , the desire to achieve an apostolic goal through Jesus Christ , devotion to the service of the Lord, support and service for the weak and poor, and finally a life in the apostolic spirit, which can help as food for the whole life in the service of God.
