biography

In 1995 Fournier-Bidoz took part in the Junior World Championship and achieved the 14th place in the downhill as the best result. In the same year he finished second in the giant slalom at the French Junior Championships, and a year later second in the downhill.

The Frenchman had his first start in the World Cup on January 5, 1997 in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora , but could not qualify for the second round. A little later he got his first two podium finishes in the European Cup and at the end of the 1996/97 season he finished third in the Super-G ranking. In February 1998 the first win followed in the Sierra Nevada and in the final classification he came back to third place in the Super-G. That year he also became French Super-G Champion .

In the World Cup, Fournier-Bidoz was able to win his first points in the Super-G in Schladming on January 10, 1998 with rank 17, and on November 27, he was among the top ten for the first time in the Super-G in Aspen . In his first World Championship participation in Beaver Creek in 1999 , he finished 18th in the Super-G. In the following World Cup seasons he was often among the top 20 in the Super-G, but his performance in the Downhill was initially significantly worse, and it was only in March 2001 that he won World Cup points there for the first time with 14th place in Kvitfjell . At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he finished tenth in the downhill and 15th in the Super-G. A year later at the World Championships in St. Moritz he came 14th in the downhill and 15th in the Super-G. In the World Cup he was able to regularly place in the points and also achieved results in the top fifteen again and again.

On December 27, 2003, he had a serious crash in downhill training in Bormio and had to end the season prematurely. On January 8, 2005, he had another hard crash on the downhill from Chamonix , and this season was also over for the French. In the following season he could not finish in the top 30 in any race and on February 3, 2006 he contested his last competition: In Chamonix he competed in a super combined for the only time and finished 34th.

Fournier-Bidoz competed in a total of 103 World Cup races (51 downhill runs, 40 super Gs, 11 giant slaloms and 1 super combination). In the Super-G his best results were four tenth places, in the downhill he reached twelfth place twice.
