Sándor made his debut in Sofia in February 2009 in the Short Track World Cup and took 26th place over 1000 m and 1500 m. In the 2010/11 season he achieved his first podium finishes in the World Cup with second places in Montreal and Moscow with the relay over 5000 m. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Courmayeur , he won gold with the relay over 3000 m. His best result at the 2014 European Championships in Dresden was fourth place over 500 m. At his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he achieved 22nd place over 500 m, 12th place over 1000 m and eighth place over 1500 m. His best result at the 2015 World Championships in Moscow was 12th place over 500 m. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he reached his first World Cup podiums in the individual with third place over 500 m in Toronto . In the further course of the season he came 500 m three times under the top ten and finished eighth in the World Cup over 500 m. At the European Championships in Sochi in 2016 , he was sixth in the relay and fifth in the all-around competition. In the individual races he achieved second place over 3000 m. His best result at the 2016 World Championships in Seoul was eighth in the 1000 m. The following year he came in ninth place in the all-around competition and eighth place with the relay at the European Championships in Turin . In the 2017/18 season he won the bronze medal over 500 m at the 2018 European Championships in Dresden and finished 22nd place over 500 m, 19th place over 1000 m and 15th place over 1500 at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang m. In the 2018/19 season he achieved three top ten placements over 1000 m, including third place in Dresden, and tenth place in the World Cup over 1000 m. He was also third in Salt Lake City with the mixed relay. At the European Championships in Dordrecht in 2019 , he came eighth in the all-around competition and fourth with the relay.
