Sérgio Borges (born October 18, 1944 in Funchal ; † December 17, 2011 there ) was a Portuguese pop musician from the island of Madeira .

He was the singer and lyricist of the beat group Conjunto Académico João Paulo , which he co-founded in 1961 , which had considerable success in Portugal with both records and concerts, and lasted until 1979.

Borges also appeared as a solo artist, mostly with his band colleagues as an accompanying musician. He came second at the Festival da Canção in 1966 with the song Eu nunca diria Adeus (German: I would never say goodbye). The piece appeared in 1966 on a 4-song EP by his band Conjunto Académico, along with their version of the 1966 winning title, Ele e Ela (German: He and She) by Madalena Iglésias . At the Festival da Canção 1970 Borges then took first place, but did not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 because the Portuguese public television broadcaster RTP did not take part in that year, in response to the evaluation system, the Simone de , which the Portuguese public perceived as irrelevant Oliveira's post last year withheld a major success.

Sérgio Borges died on December 17, 2011 in his hometown of Funchal.
