The Südfall was a German research cutter from the West Coast Research and Technology Center (FTZ West Coast), part of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

The ship was a yacht built in 1982 that sailed in the Mediterranean before being converted into a research ship. In addition to two crew members, there was space for up to six scientists on board. The ship was decommissioned in 2017 and replaced by the Egidora catamaran, which entered service on October 25 of that year . The Südfall was then sold.

Named after the ship was in the North Frisian Wadden Sea lying Hallig Südfall . The predecessor was Hermann Wattenberg , which was initially also called Südfall .
