history

The film producer Bülent Gençdemir founded the company SÜDFILM in 2012 .

A film production company of this name already existed during the Weimar Republic. "Süd-Film AG", founded by Ludwig Scheer at the time and based in Berlin, produced films such as The Witcher (1932). But it also brought numerous well-known feature and cinema films from the USA to Germany - including the world-famous Mickey Mouse . The Südfilm-AG had to give up its operations due to the Second World War. It has no legal connection with today's SÜDFILM GmbH.

"Worldwide friendships - Freiburg and its twin cities"

2017, the city celebrated Freiburg , the 50-year partnership anniversary with the Italian Padua . To mark the occasion, SÜDFILM produced an 85-minute twin town film. For this purpose, Bülent Gençdemir and his team traveled to all twelve twin cities of Freiburg within a year and a half:

Madison ( USA ), Wiwilli ( Nicaragua ), Padua ( Italy ), Suwon ( South Korea ), Tel Aviv ( Israel ), Matsuyama ( Japan ), Guildford ( England ), Lviv ( Ukraine ), Besançon ( France ), Isfahan ( Iran ) , Innsbruck ( Austria ) and Granada ( Spain ) and encountered a wide variety of languages, customs and cultures.

“Worldwide friendships” highlighted the country and people in the partner cities as well as the general purpose of such city partnerships, their history and their borders.

The film premiered in April 2018 and was one of the most successful films in cinemas in the Freiburg area in 2018.

The then Lord Mayor of Freiburg, Dieter Salomon , was full of praise for the project and was delighted with the positive reputation that his city had in all partner cities.
