The southern Rotenmannkopf , is a 3119 m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Umbal ridge in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the north-west of East Tyrol on the municipal boundary between St. Jakob in Defereggen and Prägraten am Großvenediger . The first ascent of the southern Rotenmannkopf took place on August 17, 1873 together with the northern Rotenmannkopf by G. Hofmann and J. Grill senior. and J. Berger.

The southern Rotenmannkopf and the northern Rotenmannkopf form a double summit on the southern ridge of the Daberspitze , which reaches down to the Schwarzachtörl. The south ridge of the Daberspitze forms several three-thousand-meter peaks, of which, however, only the summits, known collectively as the Rotenmannkopf or Rotenmannköpf, and the Schwarzachspitze were named. The southern Rotenmannkopf lies between the northern Rotenmannkopf in the north and the Schwarzachspitze in the south. To the west of the southern Rotenmannkopf, the mountain descends to the Schwarzach valley of the Schwarzach , to the east of the mountain peak lies the Karbach, which drains the Hochkar of the Dabertal and flows into the Daberbach .
Promotion opportunities
The southern Rotenmannkopf is an alpine summit of secondary importance. It is accessible from the Clarahütte or the Neue Reichenberger Hütte together with the Nördlicher Rotenmannkopf via the Dabertal, whereby the ascent can be done along the southeast ridge from Schwarzachtörl ( UIAA I ) or via the Hochkar along the southeast ridge. From the Schwarzachtal there is the possibility to ascend via the Oberhausalm and the Schwarzachtörl.
