In 1910, through the mediation of the curator Anton Vrbka, two rooms in the Znojmo Castle were made available to the museum after the so-called Fisée frescoes had been refreshed on behalf of the city. In 1922 all the ground floor rooms were adapted for museum purposes, from 1927 also those on the 1st floor.

In 1931 the museum was renamed the South Moravian Landscape Museum . Since the Second World War, the museum has been expanded and additional locations have been set up.
