Sławomir Witold Nitras (born April 26, 1973 in Połczyn-Zdrój ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ).

Life

Sławomir Nitras attended a middle school in Koszalin . He studied at the University of Szczecin and graduated with a diploma in politics. He then worked as an assistant at the university in the Department of Political Science and Philosophy. In 1996 he joined the Stronnictwo Konserwatywno-Ludowe ( Conservative People's Party ). In 1998 Nitras joined the cabinet of the Koszalin Voivodeship . In 1998 he was elected to the Sejmik of the newly formed West Pomeranian Voivodeship and stayed there until 2002. At the same time, he worked for the French Lafarge Group from 1999 to 2002 . There he was in Biały Bór for Kruszywa Koszalin SA, head of production and sales of construction filling material. In 2001 he joined the Platforma Obywatelska. After the birth of his youngest daughter, he founded his own company, which specialized in the supply of construction filling material and bitumen. The company had financial problems shortly after it was founded and closed in 2005. In the 2005 parliamentary elections , Nitras was able to win a mandate for the Sejm for the first time with 14,238 votes . In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 , he ran again in constituency 41 Szczecin and was again able to win a seat in the Sejm with 65,776 votes. He worked there in the commissions for state property and economy. In the 2009 European elections , Sławomir Nitras stood and won a seat with 107,413 votes. His membership in the Polish Sejm ended on June 10, 2009.

In the European Parliament he is a member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) as well as the Economic and Monetary Commission and the European Parliament delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. In 2014 he did not run for re-election. On December 2nd of the same year he became the main advisor in the cabinet of Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz . In the general election in 2015, he received 20,930 votes and received one MP. He also became chairman of the delegation of the Sejm and the Senate to the Parliamentary Assembly.

From 1991 to 1993 he was a member of the Union of Realpolitik and from 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the Conservative People's Party. He has been a member of the Platforma Obywatelska since 2001 and is a member of the state board, since 2003 he has been chairman of the Platforma Obywatelska in Szczecin and since 2006 he has been the deputy chairman of this party in the West Pomeranian Region (Zachodniopomorskie).

Sławomir Nitras is married and has two children. In 2018 he ran for the electoral alliance Koalicja Obywatelska in the election of mayor of Szczecin , but missed the runoff election as third behind the incumbent incumbent Piotr Krzystek and Bartłomiej Sochański ( PiS ), whereby he was only 282 votes behind the PiS candidates ( = 0.18 percentage points).
