The locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ6 (German transcription TGM6 ) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are diesel locomotives with diesel-hydraulic power transmission primarily for shunting services. They are similar to the locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ3 , SŽD series ТГМ4 and SŽD series ТГМ5 and were produced in different gauges . The first locomotive of the series was delivered in 1966, and this series was continued until 1970. With further modifications, the locomotives were further built and a total of over 3,100 locomotives were produced.

construction

The ТГМ6 series locomotive is a frame locomotive with two two-axle bogies and cardan transmission of the power from the fluid transmission to the drive wheels. The diesel engine was originally the 3A-6D49 type , it is an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine manufactured by the Kolomna locomotive factory . The cylinders are arranged in a V-shape, the design is derived from the series ЧН26 / 26 ( TschN26 / 26 ). The engine is charged, it is a so-called square hub , the cylinder diameter and the piston stroke are each 260 mm. Other engine modifications are in use on the ТЭМ7 , 2ТЭ25А , the modernized M62 , 2ТЭ116 , ТЭП70 , ТЭП150 and the modernized 2ТЭ10 locomotives , some with cylinders up to 16. For river boats and smaller ships, this configuration of the engine is used with a Number of cylinders up to 20 cylinders used. The diesel engine is electrically controlled with eight power levels. The fluid transmission is designed either as a transmission with two or three converters. The locomotives with УГП-1200 ( UGP-1200 ) or 212ПрГ ( 212PRG ) fluid transmission are equipped with a hydraulic brake .

The cooling fan and the compressor are driven by hydraulic clutches with regulated filling, which allows the performance to be regulated according to the diesel engine speed. In drive switch level 1 , the compressor is supplied with 2/3 of its capacity, from the third position onwards, full capacity is achieved. If the speed of the diesel engine increases further, a valve in the hydraulic coupling is opened and the speed of the compressor is based on the level of 1450 rpm. The type ПК-5.25 ( PK-5.25 ) compressor has six cylinders arranged in a V-shape. The diesel engine is started electrically.

Modifications

ТГМ6А

This is a modified variant. In the course of the delivery, changes were made, whereby the weight of the diesel locomotive was mainly increased. A total of 2435 locomotives were manufactured from 1970 to 1989. A distinctive feature of the locomotives is the lack of the small front end.

ТГМ8

This is an export modification with the diesel engine 3АЭ-6Д49 ( 3AE-6D49 ) and the fluid transmission of the type УГП-1200 ( UGP-1200 ). The locomotives had different indexes - ТГМ8Э, ТГМ8ЭK, ТГМ8ПM, ТГМ8П and ТГМ8К.

ТГМ6В

This is a modernized diesel locomotive with improvements that were later continued on the ТГМ6Д. It had separate numbering and 236 copies were delivered in the period from 1988 to 1990. In this locomotive, the engine 7-6Д49 ( 7-6D49 ) and a fluid transmission were used, which only has two converters.

ТГМ6Д

407 copies of this series were delivered from 1991 onwards. Many assemblies from the ТГМ4B series were also used in the diesel locomotive . A main difference to earlier models is the presence of a smaller rear stem. From inventory number 250 onwards, the locomotive was delivered with pivotless bogies. As with its predecessor, the locomotive is equipped with the 7-6Д49 ( 7-6D46 ) diesel engine, individual diesel locomotives were equipped with different engines.

After the collapse of the USSR , eight diesel locomotives of the ТГМ6Д modification were built for export to Cuba in the early 1990s . They weighed 78 t instead of the 90 t of the basic model. In addition, the diesel engine was suitable for working in subtropical climates. After the production of the locomotives, however, business with Cuba fell apart, so the locomotives were converted for the climatic conditions in Russia and sold to industrial companies. The Cuban name Series 39 was used for reasons not known in detail . Thus on the board of the machines was the inscription ТГМ6Д-39XXXX.
