SWAT: Firefight is an American police film directed by Benny Boom from 2011. It is a sequel to the 2003 action film SWAT - The Special Unit . In 2017, another sequel was completed with SWAT: Under Suspicion .
action
LAPD Officer Paul Cutler is regarded as a first-class anti-terrorism expert, especially in relation to hostage-taking, and should therefore train a SWAT unit in Detroit. Once there, they are called to a real mission during a training session in which he has to watch a hostage kill himself with a team weapon, even though the alleged hostage-taker is already overwhelmed. The hostage taker, CIA agent Walter Hatch, an ice-cold psychopath, blames Cutler for the death of his great love Rose and becomes his adversary from then on. Hatch has resources and connections that put Cutler and his SWAT team at great risk. On the side, Cutler begins a relationship with police psychologist Kim Byers. The movie's showdown is that Hatch kidnaps Byers and Cutler and his team must rescue them.
Others
The two Terminator actors Kristanna Loken , who played Terminatrix TX in Terminator 3 - Rebellion of the Machines , and Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000 in Terminator 2 - Reckoning , have a brief appearance together as hostage takers Walter and Hostage Rose, that tries to kill itself.
reception
The film magazine Cinema was of the opinion that the film could “never hold a candle” to its predecessor and only offered “the usual B-action according to the scheme F”. In conclusion it says: “Dull action trash with macho slogans.” The film-dienst described the film as “below average action film”. The film website kino.de , however, described the film as an "effective and exciting direct-to-video action thriller".
