The Königsbacher SC Koblenz eV is a fencing club from Koblenz . The club was founded in 1952 and produced a number of successful fencers who participated in German championships, European championships, world championships and the Olympic Games . The Koblenz location is the state performance center for the sport of fencing.

The Königsbacher SC Koblenz eV offers its members the exertion of fencing with the weapons epee and saber in fencing hall Oberwerth. The club's athletes have taken part in the Olympic Games, as well as world championships, European championships and German championships several times.
Club history
The fencing club was founded in 1952 by Jupp Münch . The first sponsor of the association was the detergent company " REI " and that is why the new association was named "TUS REI". In the beginning, the club also offered other sports, but it soon turned out that fencing is the most successful sport. After the REI company was taken over in 1970, the club was named "Sportclub Koblenz Gutenfels eV". In the following year, the Königsbacher brewery took over the sponsorship and the association was given its current name. A fencing hall with seven competition and six training lanes for the club's athletes was inaugurated on the Oberwerth in 1985. With the construction of the sports hall in the Sportpark Oberwerth in 1992, the club has another training facility available. In 1992 the club hosted the 7-national saber-fencing tournament and in 1995 and 1996 the 7-national foil fencing tournament. In 1999 the Königsbacher SC Koblenz received the “Green Belt for Exemplary Talent Promotion” award.
In the period from June 2014 to October 2017, the KSC was able to increase its results with approximately the same number of active fencers.

In total, the fencers of the KSC achieved around 300 podium placements in 3 ½ years. Almost all of the club's fencers brought home trophies from tournaments.

- 1959: The saber fencers Klaus Allisat, Hakoon Stein, Günter Weis, Werner Kaster and Karl Müller win the German Youth Championships
- 1960: Eberhard Mehl wins the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rome
- 1988: Jörg Schwanninger becomes European Cadet Champion
- 1998: Johannes Krüger in foil fencing and Wiradech Kothny in saber fencing are both junior team world champions
- 1999: Dennis Bauer , Wiradech Kothny and Johannes Krüger become world champions of juniors in saber fencing
- 1999: Wiradech Kothny becomes European active champion in saber fencing
- 2000: At the Olympic Games in Sydney , Wiradech Kothny wins the bronze medal in saber fencing (the first German individual medal in 94 years) and the team with Wiradech Kothny and Dennis Bauer from Koblenz also won the bronze medal in saber fencing
