SEC Network is an American television station owned by ESPN Inc. It broadcasts all day and shows live and recorded games, as well as analysis and news about the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He replaced the television station SEC TV .

history

On May 2, 2013, ESPN President John Skipper announced that a 20-year contract had been agreed with those responsible for the SEC and that broadcasting would begin in August 2014. Besides the Big Ten Network and the Pac-12 Network, it was the third television station that is dedicated to just one conference .

At the presentation of the SEC football schedule, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced that the SEC Network would start broadcasting on August 14, 2014. The first live regular season football games were broadcast on August 28, 2014 between Texas A&M and the University of South Carolina , as well as between Temple University and Vanderbilt University .

SEC Network began broadcasting on August 14, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. (East Coast Time) with the newscast SEC Now , the live broadcasts from every SEC school, highlights from football training camps, and live connections to a women's football friendly between the University of Arkansas and Creighton University showed.

SEC Network broadcasts events from 21 sports that are operated in the SEC; in the first year over 1000 events were broadcast, 450 of them on television alone. The station shows 45 football games , 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games and 75 baseball games annually . Under the brand SEC Network Plus , SEC Network shows all games not shown on television on the Internet . ESPN staff worked with each SEC member school to ensure that internal production, broadcast programming, and live events for the SEC Network went smoothly.
