history

The club was founded in 1911 and initially played at the local level for decades. From the beginning of the 1970s, the civil engineering contractor Walter Nix became involved in the club, whose players are also known as the Sprudelkicker due to Bad Soden's tradition as a thermal spa with several mineral springs . In 1975 he was promoted to the Landesliga Hessen-Nord . Three years later, the Sprudelkicker qualified for the DFB Cup, where the team lost 3-1 to VfL Neustadt / Weinstrasse in the first round . In 1980 he was promoted to the Hessen league. There the team reached the sporting zenith in the 1981/82 season with seventh place.

A year later, the soda kickers were relegated to the national league. In 1989 the team was runner-up behind the second team of KSV Hessen Kassel and was allowed to rise due to the regulations at the time. As the bottom of the table, the direct relegation followed. At Rot-Weiss Frankfurt there was an 8-0 defeat. In 1995 the third promotion to the league followed. The playoff for the state league championship was lost against the second team from Hessen Kassel with 0: 1 after extra time, the hot tub players were allowed to rise due to the still existing regulations.

After two years in the league, they were relegated again in 1997, including after 8-0 defeats at SV Wehen and Kickers Offenbach . Two further relegations in a row brought the SG in 2001 in the district league. Already in 2003 he was promoted to the then Landesliga Nord (since 2008 Association League ), which was held until 2012. After being promoted again in 2015, the team plays in the Association League North .
