SP.IN , the spieler.initiative basketball, is an association of German basketball players and Bundesliga basketball players. It sees itself as representing the interests of basketball professionals in Germany. The representation was founded in September 2005 by 12 German national players. Recognition by the BBL as an official negotiating partner is still pending and attempts are being made to enforce it in court.

  • Rating of the referees from the player's point of view
  • Establishment of a standard contract for players in the BBL
  • Making available the BBL rules - regulations, statutes, statutes and standards - in the language of the player

As with every association, there is a board of directors and a general assembly.

  • Board

The management board represents SP.IN externally and conducts day-to-day business. Board members are Johannes Herber ( Fraport Skyliners ), Sven Schultze ( ALBA Berlin ) (since 2009) and Dominik Bahiense de Mello ( BG Göttingen ) (since 2010), who replaced the retired Gordon Geib .

  • National team advisory board

The national team advisory board represents the special interests of the national players and is the direct contact for the DBB, as well as all other partners of the national team.

The 2010 members of the National Team Advisory Board are Jan Jagla , Heiko Schaffartzik and Elias Harris .

  • BBL advisory board

The BBL Advisory Board represents the special interests of Bundesliga players. Members of the BBL Advisory Board are Dominik Bahiense de Mello , Christopher McNaughton and Jay Thomas .

Members

In June 2006, SP.IN stated that it had 119 members, 106 of whom were players in the BBL .
