SS-Kaliert is a German punk band from Duisburg in North Rhine-Westphalia, founded in 2003 .

Band history

The punk band "SS-Kaliert" was founded in 2003 in the Ruhr area and has since released several demo recordings . She eventually signed with the New York label Punkcore Records. There their first album DSKlation was released on June 11, 2006 . The band then released the album Addiction on the Razorblade-Music label, which was led by the then bassist Nils and his brother . According to its own information, it achieved gold status with a total of 100,372 units sold. However, the album is not listed in the official database. Her last album to date, Subzero , was released in 2011 on People Like You Records . The intro was spoken by the actor Ralf Richter . The album was produced by Waldemar Sorychta . The band has toured Europe, the United States, Russia and Japan. The band has been on pause since 2011 and so far there are no new tour or album dates.

controversy

The name SS-Kaliert reads escalated . The typography alludes to the abbreviation of the Schutzstaffel and was chosen for reasons of provocation. Since her former label Punk Core was confronted with accusations within the punk scene for using the slogan " Germany above everything " in an advertisement , SS-Kaliert also came under fire. SS-Kaliert, however, admitted to anti-fascist sentiments in interviews .

In 2009, the Duisburg public prosecutor's office brought charges against the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations , as the group had the double victory run of the Schutzstaffel in the logo. The proceedings took place on November 6, 2009 at the Duisburg District Court. Both the band and Nils 'mother were accused because the label was run from their parents' apartment and the mother had supported them. All those involved were sentenced in the first instance to fines totaling € 3,300. However, the charges were later dropped.
