The association, with around 500 members, currently operates the departments of aikido , baseball , body styling , fistball , football , judo , bowling , children's gymnastics , running , swimming , dancing , tennis , table tennis , vovinam and spinal exercises .

history

The association was founded on June 7, 1951 in Darmstadt by postal workers as a postal sports association in the canteen of the Central Telecommunications Office in Darmstadt. The founding divisions were soccer, fistball, gymnastics, athletics , swimming and table tennis. The first association chairman was Walter Müller. On August 15 of the same year, he joined the State Sports Association of Hesse and from 1952 the first departments took part in competitions. The association has been recognized as a non-profit organization since 1968. After using various sports facilities in the city of Darmstadt, the club has been based in Kranichstein since 1989 after the club house was built. As part of the Jumelage Postal, several competitions with the CNET Paris association were held between 1973 and the 1980s. The club has the "Sport pro Gesundheit" certificate.

Aikido

Aikido is carried out in the club's own dojo by the Aikikai Darmstadt association. After the first beginnings in 1965, Akikai moved to SV Blau-Gelb Darmstadt with the construction of the clubhouse in 1989 and set up a dojo in the basement of the clubhouse together with the judo department. In the meantime, the Aikido department has set up its own dojo in the attic of the clubhouse.

baseball

The Darmstadt Rockets have been part of the SV Blau-Gelb Darmstadt since 1997. The first men's team played in the past with the Darmstadt Whippets in a syndicate. Since 2010 the Rockets have been playing independently again, now in the association league. The softball team played in the 1st Bundesliga for several years in a row.

Soccer

The football department was re-established after a break of several decades and is now one of the youngest departments of the club again. Due to a cooperation with other sports clubs in the north of Darmstadt, only youth football up to D-youth was offered at times. Since the summer of 2011, the club has been represented by a men's team in the district league D (Darmstadt district).

Judo

In June 1965 a small group of athletes from SV Blau-Gelb met in the sports hall of the Elly-Heuss-Knapp School to discuss the establishment of a judo department. It was quickly agreed to set up a judo department in the club.

But then the necessary prerequisites came up, and there were quite a few: exercise room, mats, trainers and how can we survive in addition to the existing judo department of SV 98. It was quickly decided to include the big brother SV Darmstadt 1898 as a starter. So discussions were held about how, where and when we can start our training with the help of the SV 98. The required training time in the same hall was granted via the sports and education authorities, which meant that we were able to establish a friendly relationship with the 98 judoka from the start.

The first trainer was Ingo Burkschadt, who had already practiced judo and wore the green belt. The department was very popular and grew so quickly that reinforcements were soon needed in the coaching area. Since the friendly coexistence in the hall made good progress and mutual training visits were also accepted, SV 98 trainer Hans Kraner could be won as an additional trainer. The first generation of their own trainers such as B. the founding member Lothar Zerull trained.

Lothar Zerull became head of the department in the late 1970s and headed the department for many years until the early 2000s. In addition to chairing the association, Zerull held the honorary presidential post of the Hessian Judo Association from 1993 to 2001. Subsequently, Zerull received the honorary presidency of the Hessian Judo Association and holder of the 7th Dan awarded by the German Judo Association.

The judoka have been training since the club house was built at Elisabeth Selbert Straße 27, in its basement.

In 2004 one finally recognized that one is better positioned together than alone and so a fighting community was founded. In 2010 the idea was concretized, eventually coaches were shared, trained together and organized city championships, judo safaris and leisure time together.

Also in 2010 the battle cry "KIAI" became commonplace among the men's national league team after coaching and so it was obvious that the fighting community called itself "KIAI Darmstadt" and from then on appeared united. At that time, the judo department of the SG Eiche was represented in the combat community at the judoka of SV Darmstadt 1898 eV and SV Blau Gelb Darmstadt eV.

In 2012 the 1st Heinercup was organized as a community, an international judo tournament with over 500 participants of all ages.

Children's gymnastics

The children's gymnastics department is one of the youngest departments in the club. The groups, divided according to age, do gymnastics in the sports hall in the clubhouse. A unicycling group is also attached to the department.

To dance

Dancing for all ages is offered in the large hall of the clubhouse. There are three groups for standard / Latin dance (comparable to dance school), and three groups for children and young people, in terms of ballet and jazz / modern dance.

tennis

The tennis department was founded on October 30, 1972. From 1974 tennis courts were used at the central telecommunications office, and since 1985 the department has had its own courts on the club's premises in Kranichstein.

Table tennis

The table tennis department is one of the founding departments of the association. After initial success in the 1960s with the promotion of the first men's team to the upper league, which was then the highest class in the Southwest German Table Tennis Association, and in the 1980s with the promotion of the 1st men's team to the 2nd Bundesliga, the teams now play at the district level. In 1961 and 1962, teams from the department became German postal team champions several times.

Vovinam

Vovinam, a martial art from Vietnam, has been part of the association for several years and is one of the largest departments with offers for children / adolescents and adults.

Cooperation with schools

The tennis and table tennis departments, together with schools from Darmstadt, offer school working groups.

Clubhouse

The first sports facilities were in Siemensstrasse in Darmstadt-Kranichstein since 1951 . After almost a year of construction, the current clubhouse has been in Darmstadt-Kranichstein since 1989, near the first sports facilities. Several departments are housed in the clubhouse. Outside there are baseball, softball and soccer fields. The table tennis department is not located in Kranichstein apart from the swimming department.

Former departments

The Darmstadt Diamonds were a division of the club from 2003 to 2004 and at that time played in the 2nd Bundesliga South. Other former departments include a. Chess , rugby , horse riding , volleyball and badminton .
