The SV Ostmark Danzig was a football club from the city of Danzig, then in the province of West Prussia . The football department played in the then first-class Gdansk District League of the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association .

history

After the club was founded on November 1, 1909, the Baltic Winter Sports Association assigned the club to the first-class Gdansk District League 1909/10 in the same year . As early as 1910/11 , Ostmark Danzig was able to win the district league with a 2-1 victory in the decision game against BuEV Danzig and was thus allowed to take part in the Baltic football final . In this Ostmark Danzig reached the final after a bye in the quarter-finals and a 7-0 victory over SV Marienwerder in the semi-finals. This final game played on April 9, 1911, however, Danzig lost 4-2 against SC Lituania Tilsit and thus narrowly missed winning the Baltic football championship and consequently participation in the final of the German football championship . 1911/12 was Ostmark runner-up in the district league Gdansk, this year the local competitor was BuEV Danzig , however, too strong, both league games were lost (0: 3 and 0: 2). After another second place in the 1912/13 season , the 1913/14 season could be finished tied with the BuEV Danzig . The deciding game on February 15, 1914 for the district championship of Danzig lost this time Ostmark Danzig on the Danziger Heinrich-Ehlers-Platz with 1: 3. In the following years there was hardly any regular game operation due to the First World War .

After the First World War, Ostmark Danzig achieved mostly midfield placements in the area now known as District II Danzig . In 1923/24 the Danzig League was played once in two groups, Ostmark won Group B and qualified for the final of the Danzig district championship. After the first game against SC Preußen Danzig , which in turn won Group A, was won 1-0, they lost 3-0 in the second leg. Since an addition of the results was not foreseen, a playoff was held, which Ostmark Danzig lost 1: 3. The club slipped into the lower midfield in the years to come, in 1927/28 the penultimate place was no longer enough to keep the league and the club had to relegate to the second-class A-class . Ostmark Danzig was unable to return to the top class, and the team reached second place in the A-class twice. After the restructuring of football in 1933, Ostmark Danzig played in the third-class 1st class district IV Danzig-Marienwerder within the East Prussian football district .

In 1934, the club merged with RSV Hansa Danzig to form RVgg Ostmark-Hansa Danzig . As the winner of 1st class Danzig in 1934/35 , the club would originally have been promoted to the second class district class Danzig-Marienwerder , but due to the restructuring of the league system Ostmark-Hansa remained in 1st class. A game operation in the 1939/40 season, which was marked by the beginning of the Second World War , is not recorded. After the establishment of the Danzig-West Prussia sports district in 1940, there was a transition round to classify the clubs in the league system. In this Ostmark reached the fifth place in the table in the 1st district class and was thus classified in the third class 2nd class Danzig 1940/41 . The club was promoted to 1st class in the 1941/42 season. Ostmark-Hansa Danzig remained in this until the game operations were broken off in the 1944/45 season.

After the Second World War , Danzig, which was part of the German Empire, was annexed by the Soviet Union and placed under Polish administration . The SV Ostmark Danzig was - like all other German clubs and institutions - forcibly dissolved.
