The SV Werder Marie was a German sports club from the West Prussian town Marienwerder (now Kwidzyn ). The football department once took part in the Baltic football finals.

history

After the club was founded in 1905, SV Marienwerder played in the league system of the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association . 1908/09 the club was subject to the Elbinger SV in the District League III Elbing-Marienwerder . After the league system was greatly expanded in the 1910/11 season , SV Marienwerder managed to qualify for the Baltic football final by winning the District League VI Graudenz / Bromberg . After a 7-0 home win against SV Viktoria Elbing in the qualifying round and a bye in the quarter-finals, Marienwerder reached the semi-finals. However, Marienwerder lost the game played on March 26, 1911 relatively clearly against SV Ostmark Danzig with 7-0. It should be the only participation in the Baltic football final for this club, in the following years the SC Graudenz and the seminar SV Thorn in District VI were stronger. For the 1913/14 season there was again a restructuring of the league operations, from then on Marienwerder played in District III Graudenz within District II Danzig / West Prussia . In 1913/14 the district class Graudenz could be won, in the subsequent West Prussian football final, Marienwerder was defeated by BuEV Danzig with 1: 3 and missed the qualification for the Baltic final.

After the First World War , the Marienwerder clubs were re-sorted together with the Elbinger and Marienburger clubs in District VI East Prussia West of District I East Prussia . In 1921/22 , SV Marienwerder qualified for the East Prussian football finals by winning the autumn round of the Marienwerder season within the District League VI East Prussia-West, but was eliminated in the preliminary round after a 2: 3 defeat against the SV Braunsberg seminar . In 1924 the first team of SV Marienwerder spun off and called itself MSV Marienwerder , in 1925 it was renamed SV Preußen Marienwerder . The remaining teams stayed with SV Marienwerder . Both teams missed the top East Prussian league , which was newly introduced for the 1926/27 season, and remained in the District League VI East Prussia West , which was henceforth second-rate. On February 13, 1927, SV Preußen Marienwerder withdrew from this league, SV Marienwerder remained in this. With the introduction of the relay as the second level of play in the 1928/29 season, SV Marienwerder had to relegate to the third division. On April 1, 1929 there was a renewed restructuring of the league system, the district VI East Prussia West moved to the District II Grenzmark and played there from then on as District League III West Prussia . A positive side effect of the restructuring was that SV Marienwerder played again in one of the many first-class leagues and thus rose two league levels at a stroke. 1930/31 the club had to relegate by the last place in the district league West Prussia.

Another game operation is currently not recorded, a promotion to the Gauliga East Prussia , introduced from 1933 , the club did not succeed. After the Second World War, the former German Marienburg was annexed by the Soviet Union and placed under Polish administration. The association expired in 1945 at the latest.
