Saša Ilić (born December 30, 1977 in Požarevac , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player on the position of midfielder .

Career

In the club

Saša Ilić began his playing career at a club in Borča , Serbia , until he moved to Partizan Belgrade in 1996 . There he forced himself to become an important player and in 1999 became national champion for the first time. After an interlude at Celta Vigo (2003/04) he returned to Partizan and was again champion in 2005.

From 2005 he played for the Turkish top club Galatasaray Istanbul and was Turkish national champion straight away at the end of the 2005/06 season. Ilić contributed massively to this title win with 12 goals and good performances.

Saša Ilić wore the jersey with the number 22 for Galatasaray Istanbul. As an attacking midfielder, he shone as a hanging tip, which he often scored goals. For the 2007/08 season he moved to the Austrian top club Red Bull Salzburg , where he was supposed to take on the classic role of a playmaker, but at the beginning of the season he was a substitute for the red bulls from Salzburg. After he was already traded as a flop in autumn and toying with a move to his regular club Partizan Belgrade in winter, he was able to meet the expectations placed on him shortly before the winter break in 2007 and in the second half of 2008 and confirm his commitment. He made his comeback in the Serbian team again through good performances in the bulls' dress.

In January 2008 he made a name for himself when he did not appear at the start of the Bulls' training session for the second half of the season together with team-mate Jorge Vargas . After Co Adriaanse took over from Giovanni Trapattoni , Saša no longer played a role in the coach's eyes and was first transferred to the 2nd team and then even suspended. On January 13th it was announced that Saša Ilić will be awarded to AE Larisa until the end of the season . For the 2009/10 season he returned to Salzburg to convince the new coach Huub Stevens of his qualities. But this did not succeed and after only one game until the winter break he was transferred back to the 2nd team. Shortly afterwards, both sides agreed to terminate the contract.

On January 23, 2010 Ilić returned to his Serbian homeland and has since played for FK Partizan Belgrade , where he had also started his career as a football player. At Partizan Belgrade he signed a two and a half year contract.

In the national team

Ilić was first used in the national team of Serbia-Montenegro in 2000 . He took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany and scored the 2-0 against Ivory Coast - the last goal for Serbia and Montenegro, but the game ended 3-2. This was Ilić's only appearance at the World Cup.

Private life

In May 2006 Ilić married his fiancée Tijana.
