The Saale-Orla hiking trail is an approx. 326 km long hiking trail in Thuringia that leads from Blankenstein to Hirschberg . The height of the path varies between 180 and 690 meters. The level of difficulty is classified as medium.

Along the way are the towns of Bad Lobenstein , Raila , Ziegenrück , Wurzbach , Leutenberg , Saalfeld , Pößneck , Breitenhain , Schleiz and Tanna .

According to an OTZ article dated April 16, 2016, this route has been closed and some of the signs have been removed.

Along the way there are a number of sights such as the castle park of Ebersdorf Castle , the Saalburg ship landing stage, Burgk Castle with its Silbermann organ, the Ziegenrück hydropower museum, the Ziehmestal Bridge, the Wysburg excavation site , the Friesau fortified church, the technical foundry and exhibition monument Heinrichshütte, the Hohenwarte pumping station , the municipality of Saalfeld with its four historic city gates, the fairy grottoes and the castle ruins of Hoher Schwarm , the municipalities of Pößneck and Neustadt an der Orla , the Galerie Holländer windmill Linda, the stilt house in the house pond near Plothen , the mountain church von Schleiz and the open-air museum on the former inner-German border in Mödlareuth .
