Saarland transport association

The Saarland Transport Association (SaarVV) is a transport association in which all Saarland transport companies are involved. It was founded in early 2005 and started work on August 2, 2005. This network enables customers of local public transport to use any local means of transport in Saarland on their route with a single ticket.

The individual areas of responsibility of the Saarländischer Verkehrsverbund are carried out by Saarländische Nahverkehrs-Service GmbH (SNS GmbH), in which the following companies are involved:

Deutsche Bahn / DB Regio AG has only the status of a cooperation partner with the DB Regio Süd-West and DB Rhein-Neckar offices.

Working method

The individual companies have come together in a cooperation agreement . They retain their legal and economic independence. The merger to form the association and the associated through tariffing result in higher costs for the companies, some of which are borne by the Saarland state government .

The predecessor organization of the Saarländischer Verkehrsverbund was the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Saar (VGS) , but it only formed a loose association and only a few tariff cooperations were achieved, including tariff associations of the Saar-Westpfalz regional bus with other companies (previously rail bus and Kraftpost ) such as in the Sulzbach / Saar area - Neuweiler / St. Ingbert and St. Ingbert / Neunkirchen .

Tariff

The network tariff is based on a honeycomb tariff with price levels, i. H. the fare depends on the number of cells to be passed through. Single, day, weekly, monthly and annual tickets are offered in the tariff. BahnCard or SaarVV card holders receive discounted single tickets.

Reduced single tickets can be purchased with the SaarVV-Card. This is valid for six months and is transferable. As with the BahnCard, the first day of validity of the SaarVV Card can be freely chosen.

BahnCard 25, BahnCard 50 and BahnCard 100 are recognized in all means of transport of the SaarVV at the SaarVV tariff with a 25% discount on the price of single tickets, this also applies to trips on the buses or the Saarbahn, even if not the means of transport of Deutsche Bahn or private railways can be used.

With a valid BahnCard 100, Deutsche Bahn trains and private railway companies can also be used free of charge within the Saarland.

The valid country tickets - the Saarland ticket is also valid on SaarVV transport and in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket and the Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket + Lux (Rhineland-Palatinate Ticket + Luxembourg ) are also valid in Saarland. The Quer-Durch-Land-Ticket is valid on all local trains in the SaarVV, but not on the buses.
