The Saatwinkler bridge is a 1990 built pedestrian bridge over the Berlin-Spandau Canal ( Hohenzollernkanal ) at km 1.06 in Berlin-Haselhorst .

Planning and construction

The location of the bridge was chosen based on various factors. So a sufficient distance had to be kept to the confluence of the canal oxbow, the immediately following widening of the Hohenzollern Canal (in this area the canoe polo fields of the Verein für Kanusport Berlin eV are now located ) made a further shift to the northwest necessary. Moreover, there were in the designated area pylons of Bewag (today Vattenfall Europe Berlin ). In addition, the existing trees should be taken into account during the construction; the connection to the existing network of paths also played a role.

construction

The 94.80-meter bridge is based on reinforced concrete contradicted store , which in turn raked piles have the foundation. These piles are surrounded by sheet pile walls. The static system is a two-hinged arch with a suspended walkway . The Saatwinkler Steg measures 7.30 meters at its widest point, the usable width is 3.10 meters throughout. The bridge is equipped with drainage and four lights . The passage width is 21 meters.

use

The long-distance cycle route Berlin– Hamburg or Berlin– Schwerin - Lübeck and the long-distance cycle route Berlin- Copenhagen run over this footbridge .
