Sabine Schormann (* 1962 in Bad Homburg ) is a German German philologist and cultural manager. She is general director of the documenta and the Museum Fridericianum in Kassel .

life and work

Schormann was born the daughter of advertising salesman Bernd Schormann and his wife Maria. From 1981 to 1987 she studied German , philosophy and art history at the University of Mainz . In 1992 she received her doctorate on a topic on Bettine von Arnim . In the early 1990s she worked as a student assistant for the Goethe Museum in Frankfurt am Main and arranged small exhibitions.

From 1992 she worked in the public relations department at the German Foundation for Monument Protection in Bonn. During her work in the area of ​​“special campaigns, conception and implementation”, Sabine Schormann was the project manager responsible for the nationwide Open Monument Day .

In 1996 she took over the exhibition management of “Planet of Visions” and “The 21st Century” in the theme park of EXPO 2000 in Hanover . Since 2000, Schormann was director of the Lower Saxony Sparkasse Foundation and the VGH Foundation in Hanover.

On November 1, 2018, she became General Director of the documenta and the Fridericianum Museum in Kassel. She will be busy with the preparation and implementation of Documenta 15 .

Sabine Schormann was the patron of the Leibniz-Ring-Hannover awarded by the Hannover Press Club . Eske Nannen took over her successor in 2019 .
