Sachie Matsushita ( Japanese 松下 幸 恵 , Matsushita Sachie ; * 1976 in Kagoshima Prefecture ; Japan ) is a Japanese pianist and composer . She lives in Mannheim .

education

She received classical piano training from early childhood, initially at the Yamaha Music School and later at the Togo Music Academy in Kagoshima, and has won several prizes at various competitions. Between the ages of 16 and 23, she stopped playing the piano.

From 1995 to 1999 she studied pharmacy at Kumamoto University , Japan. She then worked for six years as a pharmacist, researcher, lecturer in Japan, Korea and Germany in the fields of pharmacy and medicine.

When she was 23 she heard live jazz for the first time and discovered her passion for this music. She took lessons from the jazz pianist Ryoichi Tashima and began to compose. She found her access to musical life mainly in Germany, where she drew a line in 2004 under her previous professional career. She decided to stay in Germany and from 2006 to 2008 studied jazz and popular music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main .

Fields of activity

With the "Japan meets Germany" duo, trio and quartet line-up, she has made numerous appearances at jazz festivals, jazz clubs and also at benefit concerts as well as classical piano recitals in Germany and Japan. She maintains close collaboration with the following musicians: guitarist Markus Krämer, cellist Isabel Eichenlaub, cellist Stefan Knust, saxophonist Nicolai Pfisterer, saxophonist Matthias Dörsam , bassist Vitold Rek , bassist Maurice Kühn, drummer Erwin Ditzner and drummer Philipp Schaeper.

In the context of the performing arts she cooperates with the painter Anna Leibach and the sculptor Motz Tietze. In addition to her artistic activities, Sachie Matsushita works as a teacher at the city music school in Schwetzingen .
